A day in the life of a Geospatial Insight team member is never quite the same. Each day brings new challenges and opportunities to provide critical support to a range of clients across different industries. As someone with a background in the British Army, I am used to working in high-pressure situations, and my role at Geospatial Insight is no different.
My day typically starts by checking in with the GIS team to monitor any potential natural or manmade disasters. As part of our CAT response service, we need to be prepared to spring into action at a moment’s notice. Therefore, we stay current with the latest global news and potential disasters, enabling us to conduct thorough damage assessments when necessary.
Once I have checked in with the GIS team, I move onto managing our Hexagon customer accounts. This involves handling new software inquiries and renewals for over 300 software variants within the Hexagon Safety, Infrastructure and Geospatial portfolio. As a bridge between our customers, the technical support team, and Hexagon, I ensure that the end-users receive the assistance they need. With a keen interest in technology, this aspect of my role is highly satisfying.
Working with our climate team is another important aspect of my job. Geospatial Insight is committed to decarbonisation, and we have several products that offer detailed pre-install intelligence. My responsibility involves promoting and selling our products while also identifying areas for improvement. Our recent launch of the LOCATE platform, based on M.App Enterprise, has further enhanced our efforts in reducing carbon emissions and creating a more sustainable world. With a specific focus on solar capacity and the identification of suitable sites for electric vehicle charging infrastructure, our ongoing projects have a direct impact on decarbonisation efforts nationwide.
As part of my role, I support our hardware partners at Vision Engineering, whose 3D stereo equipment is widely used in various fields, including engineering, manufacturing, quality control, and research and development. I specifically focus on promoting and marketing their 3D stereo equipment to the geospatial sector. By working closely with Vision Engineering, we have been able to drive cutting-edge developments in the field of stereo visualisation, as evidenced by the advancements showcased here.
